Epson R3000 printing very dark and over saturated

All of a sudden my Epson R3000 is printing very dark, so dark they are unacceptable, and the colours are over saturated. I have tried new profiles but that made no difference. I use a Mac with Catalina 10:15:7 OS. I have checked several times that the settings are the same as before. The printer has been producing gallery quality prints for some 4 years, and I am prepared to replace it, but I dread that the new printer will have the same problem if the problem exists elsewhere. Any ideas please?
