Yesterday I printed one page in black ink then the printer suddenly ceased and began flashing alternately paper / ink cartridge lights. Message on Epson Printer Utility indicates service required. I noticed the waste ink pad beneath the roller is full to overflowing. I do not live near a service facility. I realize that with shipping and service costs, it may be wise to simply replace the printer. However, I wondered if there was any way of removing the waste ink pad to clean it? There is no movement of the head when I turn the printer on. It remains locked in position.
The printer is about 6 years old, but I would like to try a fix rather than simply discarding it, especially since I have a full supply of cartridges. Does anyone have suggestions or source for repair videos to disassemble and repair?
