How can I make XP8500 use the old version of Epson Scan rather than Epson Scan2?

Hi, does anyone know how I can get my new XP8500 to use the old version of Epson Scan rather than Epson Scan 2? Epson Scan 2 offers fewer controls and refinements (vs the older version in Professional mode) but the original Epson Scan doesn't recognise the new device and I can't find a way to add it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device and uninstalling Scan 2 but no luck.
