I have a lexmark P4350 all in one that is not used too often and I have just changed the cartriges and although the colour cart works ok the black one will not print the first line

Try this:
Disconnect printer from system> run a printer self-test> check result

*** It's the printer's problem if there is no black output.
If so, check leaks and clogs, or if the printer wire harness is properly aligned.
